Getting Started

What is red light therapy?
Red light therapy (also called photobiomodulation or PBM) uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular energy production, reduce inflammation, and support natural healing processes. It is non-invasive, painless, and backed by thousands of peer-reviewed studies.
Is red light therapy safe?
Yes. Red light therapy is one of the safest wellness modalities available. It uses no UV radiation, produces no heat damage, and has no known serious side effects when used as directed. It has been cleared by the FDA for multiple indications and is used in medical, sports, and wellness settings worldwide.
How is LightLab different from other light therapy options?
LightLab uses the Dahlia full-body photobiomodulation bed — delivering medical-grade irradiance across your entire body simultaneously. This is fundamentally different from handheld devices, face masks, or partial panels, which treat small areas at consumer-grade intensities. The Dahlia delivers therapeutic dosing in 20 minutes.
Do I need a referral or prescription?
No. LightLab Wellness is a wellness center, not a medical facility. You do not need a referral or prescription to book a session. However, if you have a specific medical condition, we encourage you to consult your healthcare provider.

Sessions & Programs

How long is a session?
Most sessions are 20 minutes in the Dahlia full-body bed. Some programs include a brief pre-session consultation or post-session guidance, so plan for approximately 30 minutes total for your visit.
How many sessions do I need?
Most members notice improvements within 3–6 sessions. For specific goals like pain management, body composition, or skin rejuvenation, we typically recommend a program of 12–24 sessions over 4–8 weeks for optimal results. Our team will help you design the right protocol.
What should I wear?
Light penetrates through minimal clothing. Most members wear a swimsuit or undergarments to maximize skin exposure. Towels and complete privacy are always provided. You should remove any jewelry or metal accessories.
Can I use multiple PTx™ programs?
Yes. Many members combine programs — for example, using the Recovery PTx™ after workouts and the Skin PTx™ for aesthetic goals. Our team can help you design a multi-goal protocol that fits your schedule.
Are there any contraindications?
Red light therapy is safe for most people. However, we recommend consulting your physician if you are pregnant, have active cancer, take photosensitizing medications, or have a condition that affects light sensitivity. Our team will review any concerns during your initial consultation.

Specific Conditions

Can red light therapy help with chronic back pain?
Many members with chronic back pain report meaningful improvement with consistent sessions. Red and near-infrared light reduce inflammation, support tissue repair, and may help reduce pain signals. Individual results vary, and we recommend consulting your physician for specific medical conditions.
Is it effective for weight loss?
The Dahlia's patented fat-loss setting supports fat cell metabolism and lipid release. Combined with movement and sound nutrition, many members achieve meaningful body composition changes. Light therapy is a complement to — not a replacement for — healthy lifestyle habits.
Can it improve my skin?
Yes. Red light at 660nm is one of the most well-studied approaches to non-invasive skin rejuvenation. Clinical research shows improvements in collagen density, skin tone, fine lines, and radiance with consistent use.
Will it help with my athletic recovery?
Absolutely. Near-infrared light at 850nm accelerates muscle repair, reduces DOMS, and supports faster return to training. Many athletes use the Dahlia bed both before and after training.
